4th August 2015 @ Poetrylive
8PM at the Thirsty Dog, 469 K’rd
Guest Poet: Ila Selwyn
Ila was an MC for Poetry Live for four years and left to organise and run rhythm & verse for the next five. Last year she did her Masters in Creative Writing at Auckland University, where she wrote a feminist black comedy, called framed. This bizarre play included four hand-made chapbooks of poetry and a slide presentation. At the moment Ila is working towards getting her play on stage. She was the oldest to receive 1st class honours at graduation in May this year.
Guest Musician: Jodi Pringle / Gatchick
Jodi is a singer/songwriter. Her music is ‘acoustic groove’ – she tries to reflect the emotions that come along with being human and engaging in relationships. She’s been in a number of bands and has played support for the Topp Twins, Ben Fulton, & Bridgette Ellis. She plays regularly at one-2-one, a few gigs at Juice Bar, Kamo Dykes on Mics open mic and some private gigs. Jodi has just finished recording her first single, which will be ready for release shortly.
Open mic: all welcome to read/perform Koha entry
