15th September 2015 @ Poetrylive
8PM at the Thirsty Dog, 469 K’rd
Guest Poet: Tim Heath
Tim Heath is a contentedly retired teacher who, whenever possible, spends time writing poetry, which he endeavours to get published. He is an MC at Poetry Live and relishes the contact this gives him with a riotous collection of other poets. He enjoys performance poetry – this enthusiasm has seen him win a number of major Auckland Poetry Slams, including Poetry Idol and Going West. Time for these activities is happily compromised by involvement with family, especially his eight superb grandchildren, reading, cooking, gardening, playing golf badly, ocean sailing, watching cricket, tending to the needs of an ageing grey Lynn villa and, whenever possible, just dreaming.
Guest Musician: Sane-Va
Sane-Va is a New Zealand born Samoan, born and raised in Auckland. He attended Mt Albert Grammar School, finishing in 2013. He is currently an undergraduate studying engineering at the University of Auckland. His many interests include rugby, science, culture and music. He has played the piano since the age of six and in 2014 passed the Royal Schools of Music grade 8 practical exam – his first time sitting a Royal Schools exam. While he enjoys nearly all genres of music from around the world, his musical taste predominantly lies in Western classical music, particularly the works of Mozart, Beethoven and his favourite composer Bach. While music is currently a pastime for the young engineering student, he plans to return to University after finishing his Bachelor of Engineering to study piano performance –hopefully in Jazz and/or classical.
