17th April 2018 @ Poetrylive
8PM at the Thirsty Dog, 469 K’rd
Our guest Poet this week is Ellie Poucher.. “I am 32 I have been in the Royal New Zealand Navy for 14 years I have 2 children a Girl and a Boy who live in Palmerston north with their mother. Recently after struggling with depression it was suggested that I begin to write Poetry. Which then lead to an order to find a Space and time like poetry live and share My Poetry. That was in May last year and my poetry has helped me in understanding my self getting to a better space. It has also created another communication outlet those close to me can read, my poetry which reveals far more than I could verbalise, shows the emotions I keep hidden sometimes even from myself. I try not to limit what I share so that I may be as open to my audience as they can be to me when the mic is opened to the floor.
Guest Musician: Permission to Speak
And our guest musician are Permission to Speak who are returning to the Poetry Live stage after a much loved performance last year. Permission to Speak is primarily made up of Sam and Jono, a blues rock and roll contemporary folk alternative act that uses a healthy mix of influences and contributing artists to produce many different untamed sounds.
Open Mic: all welcome to read/perform
