David Stavanger is a poet, writer, performer, cultural producer and lapsed psychologist. In 2013 he won the Arts QLD Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize, resulting in the release of The Special (UQP), his first full-length collection which was also awarded the 2015 Wesley Michel Wright Poetry Prize. His longer prose-poem The Electric Journal about his lived experience with ECT was a finalist of the 2016 Newcastle Poetry Prize and will form the spine his next book. David was Co-Director of the Queensland Poetry Festival (2015-17) and is also sometimes known as Green Room-nominated spoken weird artist Ghostboy.
