7th August 2018 @ Poetrylive

8PM at the Thirsty Dog, 469 K’rd

Guest Poet: Peter Le Baige

Peter Le Baige started writing around 1977, and took part in the early Poetry Live sessions at the Globe Tavern doing his last guest spot there around 1982, so it’s taken a while to get back on stage…
“I try to trace out the beauty that exists in the fragile, the breaking apart of things natural and human, my feelings towards those closest to me in love and hurt, and tributes to those who have passed by erecting a scaffolding of memories to them others might even build upon from their own remembrances”.
He has lived and worked in Australia, China, Japan, Mongolia, Greece and the UK. “Sometimes I touch on my travels in writing, mostly, however, find the sea and landscapes of my early years always float to the fore; I have a great deal of rain and ocean in everything I’ve written”.

Guest Musician: Nia Vavao

Nia Vavai is Samoan, and first-year studying a conjoint Arts and Music Bachelor at the University of Auckland. She’s a singer-songwriter who loves poetry and spoken word so this should be good!
