Poetry Live! Presents Resurrection Night with
René Harrison and Golf Weather!
Celebrate National Poetry Week at Poetry Live by welcoming back Ressurection Night! A once yearly night where we celebrate the poets of our past. Come and read a work or two from one of your favourite bygone poets and even dress up as one of them! Prizes up for grabs!
To to help celebrate the night we have two fantastic special guests,
first up our muso for the evening, Golf Weather.
A self recording artist, GolfWeather’s catalogue includes acoustic singer/songwriter vibes, with a strong folk influence while also featuring subtle production techniques.
“It’s almost like an inside joke; that these are songs recorded in my wardrobe. I treat it like a retreat, and when I emerge there’s usually some workable material” says the Auckland based artist.
GolfWeather is the solo project for budding musician Mitch Treleaven. He has studied performance, production and song craft at MAINZ and the University of Auckland respectively. The most of the songs have been written while studying, covering a broad range of subjects; from love stories to political commentaries.
And our featured poet for the evening is René Harrison.
”I’ve been bringing my ‘crippled aesthetics’ to Poetry church on and off since 1990. I like poetry’s power to unsettle normalcy. So forming images from a blind point of view, I find the fissures in authority where novelty may appear.”
The first half of Open Mic will be for Resurrected Poets.
Will be a cracking night! MC’d by the James Crompton, the resurrected Rachel Naomi and Kate Kelly.
