Poetry Live! Presents
Penny Ashton & Matt Harvey
Tuesday 27th November, 8pm.
The Thirsty Dog
This week we have an exciting double act of poets with perhaps some musical interlude.
Penny Ashton
Penny Ashton’s first ever poetry feature was at Poetry Live at the Departure Lounge in 2002. From that lounge she then launched a global career of comedy, poetry, theatre and smart arsery that has seen her perform over 700 solo shows from Edinburgh to Edmonton to Mosgiel.
She has represented both New Zealand in The World Cup of Theatresports in Germany, and Australasia in a Performance Poetry Slam Tournament Tour of the UK. She has also performed poetry by invitation at The Glastonbury Festival, her solo musical Promise and Promiscuity at The Jane Austen Festival in Bath and has reported from the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas.
Penny met her hot funny husband, Matthew Harvey at an open mic night at the London Bar and she encourages everyone single to look around them tonight and take a chance.
Matthew Harvey
Matthew made his first tentative, slightly wobbly steps into the world of Performance poetry right here at the Thirsty Dog, at POETRY LIVE! After that first nervous, slurred reading-whilst-staring-at-the-floor he decided he kind of enjoyed it. Since then he has performed all over the place, he’s been to fringe festival in Dunedin, Winnpeg, Edmonton, Fort MacMurray (google it, it’s a strange place full of trucks), WOMAD in New Plymouth and the biggest of them all The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He’s slightly less slurry and he’s unafraid to look up from his shoes now.

Open Mic 5 minute limit.
There may be some tinkling with the order of things due to the slightly different nature of the evening. I may put some open mic on first.
